Suggested 7 & 14 Day
Sailing Itineraries:
Please note that the
number of days and the type of yacht you choose will determine the
itinerary that is possible. For example if you charter a sailing yacht,
you will need at least one week to really make your trip enjoyable and
have enough time to see a few islands. The average sailing time between
islands is 5 hours with a sailing yacht, 3 hours with a motor sailer and
2 hours or less with a motor yacht. Please choose one of the sailing
areas from the table above to look at suggested itineraries and read
through the tips below.
Cyclades
Islands, southeast from Athens...including islands such as Kea, Syros,
Mykonos, Paros, Santorini.
Saronic Islands and the
Coast of Pelopponesus south of Athens...including the islands of Poros,
Hydra and Spetses and the wonderful mainland stop of Monemvasia.
Northern Sporades
northeast from Athens...including Skiathos and Skopelos. Ionian islands
on the west coast of Greece, including Corfu and Ithaca.
Dodecannese Islands near
the coast of Turkey, including Rhodes, Patmos and Kos.
For
7 days, we advise the Saronics and Peloponnesian coast......or possibly
combining some of the Cyclades with the Saronic Islands. For more than 7
days, your options widen to include the Cyclades. The Northern Sporades
are best done from Athens with 14 days as are the Ionian Islands. The
Dodecannese Islands are best covered by starting in the Dodecannese and
can be done with 7 or more days although including a sail across from
Athens is fun and interesting. One-way charters are possible too.
Our
Travel associates are ready and able to help you plan fantastic side
trips. These can include several days stay on an island, such as
Santorini or Crete and several days touring the intriguing, mountainous
mainland of Greece. Examples are Meteora' s monasteries high on pinacles
of rock or Metsovo's lovely traditional village, or the area where
Alexandria the Great was born and lived and the ruins left behind. There
are so many places to see in Greece that years of traveling wouldn't
suffice.
